5 players Chelsea should not have sold

  1. Bertrand Traore:

The youngster was very impressive with Dutch club Ajax last season. He was vital for the young Ajax team that finished runners-up at the Europa League Final last season. The former Chelsea winger looks very energetic and lively on the wings and has the ability to change the game when on the song. His excellent form last season earned him a move to Lyon this summer, and it is interesting to see how he develops as Chelsea may need to activate their buy-back clause if Traore reaches the level he expected to.

  1. Thorgan Hazard:

Thorgan is the younger brother of Eden Hazard. Thorgan plays for Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga and has made quite a name and place for himself in the German club. Thorgan scored 6 goals and made 4 assists last season, but it was his form in Europe that was more impressive. He scored 4 goals and made 3 assists in Europe last season, and it is now key for future plans at Monchengladbach as they plan to become a regular side in the Champions League.

  1. Nathaniel Chalobah:

Chalobah had a season to forget with Napoli last season but the youngster still has loads to offer. Chalobah is a holding midfielder, with some good abilities to win the ball back and make some positive and direct forward passes. Since his move to Watford this summer, Chalobah has looked good with his presence in the midfield. With more game time, he’s expected to improve and develop, and if things go well, we might see him become one of the best holding midfielders in the league.

  1. Dominic Solanke:

The English youngster shone in the U-20 World Cup this year. He was the highlight for England, and it is surprising how Solanke has not even played once for Chelsea till date. In need of game time at the senior most level, Solanke departed from Chelsea this season to join Liverpool. Solanke is a sharp striker with a constant knack of scoring goals. He’s strong and has the instincts of a poacher. Under the right development and training, Solanke can be one of the future stars of England and the club he plays, which might end up as a regret for Chelsea.

  1. Nathan Ake:

The Dutch defender was sold to Bournemouth this summer. Ake had a brilliant loan spell with Bournemouth last season. He was called back in the middle of the season to help Conte and his team bring stability at the back. Conte had a lot of praise for the youngster, which makes it surprising as to why Chelsea sold him even when Terry was leaving the club and Zouma was being loaned out.
