Why Barcelona will never be great again?

Mockery in the transfer market

Barcelona’s name has deteriorated immensely due to the current transfer events that have taken place this summer. Neymar’s transfer to PSG was a massive loss to Barcelona both technically and commercially. Normally, the giant clubs are known to bring a high-quality player from other clubs, but this has been the other way around which raises questions of how the things are run at Barcelona. Barcelona’s approach to desperately sign Coutinho and Dembele from Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund respectively has indicated their desperation, and the club’s name has only been rubbed through the mud.

Real Madrid’s future

While Barcelona are on a decline, Real Madrid are looking unstoppable. Madrid have been fabulous under Zinedine Zidane, and it is only going to get better. With some very young and hot prospects under Zidane, Madrid sure have a bright future. They can be the dominant force both in Europe and Spain, meaning it is very bad news for the Catalans.

  1. End of MSN

With the departure of Neymar, it brings an end to an epic spell by the MSN. Messi, Suarez, and Neymar were deadly in front of the goal and too difficult to stop. With Neymar gone, Messi and Suarez will have to make do with the options available and with due respect to any of those options, it isn’t going to be the same as it was with MSN. In the coming years, Messi and Suarez will not be able to play as good as they are able to now, meaning Barcelona will be in a lot of mess.

  1. Iniesta and Busquets ageing

The two strong pillars of Barcelona’s midfield right now are Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets. They both aren’t getting any younger, and it is surprising how Barcelona still haven’t found their replacements, and it will come back to haunt them once they retire. Iniesta is already planning to seek retirement, but the bigger loss will be when Busquests require as there are very few of the level of his quality. In the absence of these players in the midfield, Barcelona will have a lot to deal with.

  1. Messi the lone wolf

It must be agonizing to be Lionel Messi right now. The Argentine had a special bond with Neymar both on and off the field. Seeing a player of his quality leave meant Messi has more pressure on him to perform well. Suarez will be there but in the end, it all comes down to Messi, and it will be not long before Messi retires or opts to leave. Without Messi, Barcelona will not only be handicapped but clueless in lot many ways, and it may take them years to adapt to that change.
